"The future is not some place we are going to, but one which we are creating...
The paths to it are not found, but made, and the making of these pathways
can change both the maker, and the destination."

'Commission for the Future' ... P Ellyard 1991

The Cultural Dimension
A number of cultural and creative events have been undertaken to promote and celebrate its involvement in the community.  The Catchment Centre members participate in a number of annual festivals and events.  They promote the waterways through the arts in the biennial  'Splash' Festival The activities and achievements of Maroochy Waterwatch are displayed at The Sugar Festival, World Environment Day, and the Festival of the Rivers. Its members also combine recreational activities with its mainstream activities.  A Canoe Sweep on Clean Up Australia Day, for example saw its members join with a local canoe club, scout group and business-people.
